This is a great article about how to setup a file on your USB thumb drive to have it ask for help if it is ever lost. The tech behind it simply implies that who ever may find your lost drive would be honest enough to contact you and return it to its owner. To make sure that the drives contents remain unseen I would suggest encrypting the full contents of the drive so the person who stumbles upon your drive will not be able to open or save the files that reside on the drive.
